Q. What does a “House Wash” include and how do you do it?
All House Washes include hand brushing and washing of gutter exteriors, washing of all siding, brick, soffit, shutters, porch ceilings and exterior windows. We use a “soft wash” procedure which eliminates the need for high pressure, which can cause damage to your home. Soft washing is the safest and most effective way to clean your home’s exterior. First, we apply a specially formulated cleaning solution to your home. The mold, algae, dirt, spider webs and grime disappear like magic and we rinse all the unwanted material from your home using very low pressure. Your home will sparkle like new and you risk no damage.
Q. Will your process hurt my flowers, plants and shrubbery?
Absolutely not. We take great care to protect your homes living landscape and care just as much about your plants, trees, flowers and bushes as you do. Usually the foliage looks healthier after your home is washed due to all the watering it gets throughout the cleaning process.
Q. What are those black stains and streaks on my roof?
The black roof stains common to our area are actually an algae called Gloeocapsa Magma. This type of algae is often referred to as “roof mold” and loves to grow in humid and warm climates. This algae usually appears first on the North slope of the roof where there is the most shade and moisture. Rain then spreads this algae down the roof, causing black streaks. This algae feeds on the limestone filler used in roof shingles and gradually begins to break down the protective granules, causing them to fall off into your gutters...This causes the roof to deteriorate and also lessens it’s ability to reflect heat rays. If left untreated, this algae will reduce the life of your roof, decrease your home’s curb appeal, and increase your home’s cooling cost. If you are trying to sell your home, it can also create a very negative perception in a prospective buyers mind, as they may feel the roof is in need of replacement. A professional roof “soft-wash” will restore that healthy “like new” appearance to your roof, extend it’s life, increase your property value and dramatically improve curb appeal.
Q. How do you clean my roof and how long will it stay clean?
The Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association (ARMA) recommends using a specialized cleaning solution and LOW PRESSURE to clean and protect your roof and shingle warranty. This process consists of using a very low pressure spray of specialized cleaners which removes the stains and kills the algae spore. The ugly streaks and stains disappear and then the roof is gently rinsed to reveal its original appearance. You and your neighbors will love your clean and healthy roof, prospective buyers will feel your home has been well maintained and you will see a night and day difference in curb appeal from the road. Q. What do I need to do to prepare for your services?
Not much really. We ask that all your doors and windows are tightly shut, any exposed electrical outlets, appliances and exterior lighting are shut off and we have an accessible water supply to hook up to. Pets should be kept inside while we are working and screens removed if you would like the sills flushed out thoroughly. Obviously, any delicate breakables or items affected by water should be removed from the cleaning area, such as under porches. We are happy to help with any moving of items if you are unable to. That’s about it.
